Questions
What is a Doula?
A Doula, or often referred to as a "birth coach", is a support person who helps you through your labour, birth, and postpartum period. They help you and your support system thrive and make correct decisions. A Doula is not a Midwife or nurse as they are not trained in the medical field.
Why a Doula?
A Doula is a birth coach to assist you, your partner, and the rest of your family/friends. Doulas offer emotional, physical, and informational based support to ensure you feel confident and in control of your birth experience.
What are the benefits of a Doula?
Studies have shown that having a Doula on your birth team can decrease cesarean rates, epidural requests, use of oxytocin, and the length of labour which in turn benefits baby as well!
What kind of support can I expect?
Studies have shown that having a Doula on your birth team can decrease cesarean rates, epidural requests, use of oxytocin, and the length of labour which in turn benefits baby as well!
Do you replace my partner?
Absolutely not! A doulas role is not to replace your existing birth team but to enhance it. We can take some of the stress off so you can focus on this important moment.
When should I hire a Doula?
Hiring a Doula in your second trimester allows us time to get to know you, your partner/support person(s), and your birth plan!
